The NIssan Silvia is a very popular car in the JDM car community because of its short wheel-base, which is good for drifting, low cost, plentiful power, lightweight and well balanced chassis and its massive aftermarket support. This car is very customizable in looks and performance which is the main reason a lot of teenagers in Japan and the U.S buy the Silvia.
Before we start, the Silvia was clarified as the 180sx in Japan, while the 200sx was the Silvia sold in Europe and the 240sx was the Silvia sold in America. The 180sx or Silvia was a japenese rear-wheel drive sports car that was realeased to the U.S in 1989, replacing it's older generation the 200sx. It was released with two versions, one a coupe with fixed headlights, and one a hatchback with popup headlights. The 180sx was released with the infamous CA18DET which is a 2 .0 litre inline 4 engine that produced 175 horsepower and 166 torque. The S13 would go on to win the Car of The Year Japan Award. Nissan would continue to make 3 generations of the 180sx next being the S14. But the S13 continued to be made until 1998.
The 180sx S14 was very anticipated because of the last generation the S13, the car we just talked about. The S14 was first released in 1993 whilst the S13 was still being produced because of the high demand. This generation came with the same engine but now producing 155 horsepower and 160 torque. It was also wider and lower then the s13. The S14 was released with a new engine, the SR20DE in Japan. It later came out with a new version called the "K" which was released with a better engine, SR20DET.
Whilst the S15 is banned in America because of the 25 year import rule, it is still very popular. This new 180sx now has 247 horsepower and 203 torque, which is a massive upgrade from the last generation. This 180sx had two versions of itself, the Spec-S and Spec-R whilst also coming with a "Aero" option which had a large rear wing and side skirts. After the S15, the sports car had been sadly discontinued.
